According to a study done by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety the bans on texting while driving resulted in an increase of risks. While this might not make any sense on the surface, drivers under 25 years of age seem to be the main culprit which also results in higher car insurance rates for them. Possible reasons include an anti-authoritarian attitude and an ever-evolving use of tech-gadgets. Although it is difficult to determine just yet whether or not the texting bans actually make a difference, here is how the numbers break down so far.
